Program

This year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Festival “Rarities of Piano Music”, as many of you may have already noticed. Up to now more than 2000 piano pieces have been performed during the festival, most of them uncommon or rare jewels of the repertoire. So what is to come in the jubilee year? You will find the answer on the following pages of this flyer. There will be more concerts than usual and to commemorate Liszt’s 200th birthday the festival will provide its own highlights: Donald Manildi, the curator of the worldwide biggest collection of piano recordings at the University of Maryland, will give a talk in our matinee, and you will find a Liszt exhibition in the foyer arranged by Dr. Joachim Draheim. Moreover we will look into the question of the importance of piano recitals in today’s concert life. This topic will be debated in a panel discussion headed by international high-calibre piano experts.
