North Frisia

The North Sea Coast Cultural Landscape from Sylt to St. Peter - Ording

North Frisia, the landscape of the North Sea Coast with islands and "halligs", with dikes, marshes and bogs below broad open skies, provides opportunities for unique adventures.
Multiple shades of culture are to be found here; more than thirty museums from the Multimar-Wattforum to the Husum Museums (North Frisia Museum, Husum Castle, Storm House, Naval Museum), from the Hallighaus to Emil Nolde; numerous galleries and artist’s studios, concerts, theater and readings; in villages and throughout the landscape there are lovingly restored homes with thatched roofs.

The North Frisia Culture Summer (program brochure and Internet > LINK < setzen) contains more than 900 events in the months from June – September. The multifaceted culture of North Frisia, with its major and minor events are sure to enrich your vacation. Enjoy the nature and culture of the North Sea.
Along with the "Rarities of Piano Music" > LINK < setzen, there is the Young Masters concert series in the Husum Castle and a series of choir music in winter.
On Sylt, the "Meerkabarett"> LINK < setzen in July and August will provide cultural winds and in Husum there is the Storm Conference for the literary enthusiasts in September every year. For the fans of somewhat "stiffer" cabaret, the same month offers the puppet theater festival Pole-Poppenspäler Days.
North Frisia is the land of five language; such linguistic diversity can only be found here: Plattdeutsch, Frisian, Danish and Plattdänisch are the native languages; for the German guest the natives stoop to High German and English is practically a second language for many!
