Förderverein Raritäten der Klaviermusik e.V.
The "Friends of Rare Piano Music" was founded on 27 January 1995 in the preparatory phase for the 9th concert week of the annual Husum Piano Festival when it began to become apparent that the survival of the unique series of popular and high-quality concerts was endangered for financial reasons.
Scores of Husum’s citizens, retailers and companies and banks were willing to make donations to the concerts, which had become known well beyond the borders of the city. In the meantime, many fans of piano music from throughout Germany and even some from England, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the USA have joined the ranks of the "Friends".
The annual fees are currently € 60 (€ 20 for students) and any additional donations are used exclusively to the benefit of the concerts.
Donations are tax deductible in Germany; the organization has been granted non-profit status by the financial authorities.
?The Friends provide funding for the purpose of obtaining more renowned pianists, increasing the awareness of the concert series, to advertise for the event known internationally as the "Husum Festival" and to improve the technicalities of performing the concerts.
As a bonus, the friends are offered, amongst other things, the opportunity extensively inform themselves in advance of the series on the basis of the brochure before the program is announced to the public and to reserve tickets before they go on sale. The requests are then fulfilled – after the options from subscribers from the previous year have been met – in the order they are received.
In addition, the Artistic Director, Mr. Peter Froundjian, informs the members - generally toward the end of the year – about the status of planning and preparations for the following year’s concert week.
